Arturo Salerni
Lawyer, active in various fields of forensic and research and legal advice. Expert in administrative law, criminal law, foreigners' law and asylum law. He provides advice and assistance to various public administrations and trade union organisations in the field of public employment and private work.
He is Chairman of the Truth and Justice Committee for the New Desaparecidos in the Mediterranean. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the association Progetto Diritti onlus, which chaired from 1992 to 2000. The association provides information and legal advice to vulnerable sections of the population, foreign nationals and asylum seekers, consumers and users of public services. Since 2008, he has been coordinator and spokesperson of the Singh Mohinder Committee for the Protection of Foreign Workers Victims of Accidents at Work and their Families, providing advice and assistance in the field of labour law and social security. In 1991 he participated in the foundation of the Antigone Association, which is involved in the study and proposals for reform of the penal system. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors. It deals with procedures for the recognition of the right to asylum in favour of persons persecuted in different countries because of their opinions, ethnic or religious affiliation, political, trade union and social activity. He oversaw the procedure that led to the recognition of the right of asylum in Italy by the Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan. He looks after the interests of the families of victims and desaparecidos in the proceedings against the so-called Condor Plan before the Court of Rome. He is dealing with numerous cases before the Strasbourg Court for violation of the rights recognised by the European Convention on Human Rights.
